“The Incredible Life of Mr Williams” follows the life of Mr Williams, your average British businessman in London, who works in ...business? We photographed Mr Williams over the course of a few weeks, documenting his life, to see what he really gets up to.
“ “The Incredible Life of Mr Williams” is a documentary-style book following the downfall of “Mr Williams” a caricature of a London businessman into slightly shady dealings. The book was created to be a mockery around the business and hustle culture in London. The character of Mr Williams was based on the “cut and paste” white cis-gendered male who works in The City was played by a mixed-race non-binary actor. I purposefully wanted the actor’s personality and style to show through the character in the photos, with stylish bright nails, big rings, facial piercings and makeup deliberately on show. While the character is obviously a parody, I wanted Mr Williams to be portrayed in this way to not only add to the comedic and surrealistic visuals of the project, but to also try and open a dialogue about race and gender equality in The City”
